This manager will work closely with a cross-functional team to develop, enhance, and scale platforms like CNN Underscored. You will be responsible for leading the development of high-quality, customer-facing products and tools that power CNN's e-commerce initiatives. As an engineering leader, you will foster a culture of excellence, mentorship, and continuous improvement.<br /> <br /> Your Role Accountabilities…<br /> • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, growth, and technical excellence while promoting continuous learning and career development.<br /> • Drive technical strategy and oversee the development of scalable, high-performance web applications for CNN Digital Commerce.<br /> • Drive cross-functional collaboration to align engineering, product, and business teams for data-driven decision-making and streamlined product development.<br /> • Lead efforts to improve engineering workflows, tooling, and processes for operational excellence.<br /> • Implement and advocate for agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) and support continuous delivery practices.<br /> • Drive initiatives around monitoring application health, infrastructure, and code performance to ensure system reliability and optimal user experiences.<br /> • Drive innovation by adopting modern technologies, optimizing architecture, and ensuring long-term maintainability through code reviews and refactoring.<br /> <br /> Qualifications & Experience:<br /> • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (M.S. preferred).<br /> • 10+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role.<br /> • Proven track record in leading teams responsible for building and scaling e-commerce platforms or consumer-facing products.<br /> • Extensive experience in modern web technologies, with deep expertise in JavaScript (Node.js, Vue.js), TypeScript, Fastly and Python.<br /> • Proficiency in cloud services such as AWS (Serverless/SAM, etc.), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure management (Terraform, CloudFormation).<br /> • Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL), search engines (Elasticsearch), and caching solutions (Redis).<br /> • Experience with high-performance, high-availability applications in production environments.<br /> • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire engineers to meet ambitious technical goals.<br /> • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.<br /> • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business teams.<br /> • Deep familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).<br /> • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines and supporting incremental delivery of business value.<br /> <br /> Bonus Skills<br /> • Experience in non-procedural programming or applying functional-style programming concepts.<br /> • Previous involvement in building e-commerce, affiliate platforms, or consumer media applications.<br /> • Experience in mentoring junior engineers, conducting technical interviews, and contributing to talent acquisition efforts.<br /> <br /> #LI-Hybrid<br /> <br /> Championing Inclusion at WBD<br /> Warner Bros. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $174,200.00 - $278,700.00 salary per year.
