FLEX Director, Digital Data Product Governance Lead

This is a temporary position.

The assignment duration is through September 27, 2027

JOB SUMMARY

The FLEX Director, Digital Data Product Governance Lead is a dedicated leadership role responsible for operationalizing data governance across Marriott's Marketing & Digital Data Products. Sitting within the Enterprise Data, Analytics & AI (D&AI) organization, this role owns the standards, frameworks, and day-to-day execution that ensure our digital data is trusted, defensible, compliant, and activation-ready across marketing technology vendors and all downstream data products.

This is an embedded data product leader — not a coordination or oversight function. The FLEX Director, Digital Data Product Governance Lead will be accountable for driving execution and decision-making across cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Legal, and Marketing), owning enterprise-wide collection standards, data quality and lineage, consent enforcement, and regulatory defensibility. The role operationalizes governance so that data flowing through our digital supply chain can be reliably used for personalization, media measurement, and AI use cases.

This leader will establish that proactive model — turning fragmented collection standards, inconsistent taxonomy, and data quality gaps into a governed, high-value first-party data foundation.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technology, business, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data governance, digital data management, data product management, or a closely related discipline, with a pattern of progressive growth and strong performance.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of digital data collection and instrumentation (e.g., Adobe Analytics / Adobe Experience Platform, dataLayer, tag governance) and how it feeds downstream data products.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks, taxonomy/metadata standards, data lineage, and data quality controls at enterprise scale.
  • Working knowledge of privacy and consent regulations and their operational implications (e.g., CPRA/CIPA, GDPR), and experience translating them into defensible controls.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence across a highly matrixed organization (Product, Engineering, Legal, Marketing) and to drive execution with clear ownership and decisioning authority.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data modeling and product lifecycle concepts; experience with Snowflake / modern cloud data platforms strongly preferred.
  • Superior written and oral communication and executive presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in hospitality, travel, retail, or other consumer-facing industry with large-scale first-party digital data.
  • Privacy certification (e.g., IAPP CIPP/CIPM) or equivalent demonstrated privacy fluency.
  • Management consulting or transformation experience standing up new operating models or capabilities.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Data Collection Standards — Establish and enforce enterprise eventing standards, site and campaign taxonomy, and consent-aligned data collection across web and mobile digital properties.
  • Data Quality, Lineage & Documentation — Own data quality, lineage, and documentation across AEP and downstream data products, ensuring traceability from collection through activation.
  • Governance & Defensibility — Build and operationalize governance frameworks that ensure defensibility and regulatory compliance (e.g., consent enforcement, tracking-technology inventory, observability and monitoring KPIs).
  • Activation Readiness — Ensure governed data is ready and reliable for personalization, media measurement, and AI/ML use cases across the enterprise.
  • Design, document, and operationalize an enterprise-wide digital data governance and measurement framework, — including eventing standards, a unified site taxonomy aligned to the customer journey, and consent management standards aligned to applicable regulations (e.g., CPRA/CIPA).
  • Own consent enforcement, tracking-technology inventory and reconciliation, defining and monitoring governance KPIs (e.g., unauthorized tracker rate, % of trackers firing post-consent).
  • Establish data lineage, documentation, and quality standards across AEP and downstream MDP/Snowflake data products so consumers know exactly what they can rely on.
  • Serve as the hands-on, accountable owner who drives implementation across Product, Engineering, Legal, and Marketing — making governance decisions rather than coordinating others to act.
  • Partner with Legal and the Global Privacy Office to translate evolving regulatory requirements into business implications, remediation plans, and defensible controls.
  • Drive resolution of open audit findings and remediation items related to cookie management, data collection, and tracking, standing up a proactive operating model so compliance is designed in rather than addressed late.
  • Define observability and monitoring approaches for the digital data supply chain, partnering with Global Technology on instrumentation, pipelines, and platform architecture.
  • Embed governance requirements into data product development and the Product Operating Model, ensuring standards the delivery teams build against are clear, documented, and adopted.
  • Establish activation-readiness criteria so governed data can be confidently used for personalization, media measurement, and AI use cases.
  • Report on governance posture, compliance status, data quality, and remediation progress to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on a regular cadence.
