Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Associate (Banners and Signs Manufacturing)

Job Summary:
The Shipping Department team member in a banners and signs manufacturing facility is responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping custom-printed graphics, banners, and signage to ensure safe and timely delivery to clients. This role supports the production team by handling finished products, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating with carriers while adhering to industry-specific packaging and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order Preparation: Carefully pick, pack, and label finished banners, signs, or display materials (e.g., vinyl, acrylic, or fabric) to meet customer specifications and prevent damage during transit.
  • Packaging: Use specialized packaging techniques (e.g., tubes, crates, or protective wraps) to ensure oversized or fragile items like banners, or rigid signs are secure for shipping.
  • Inventory Management: Track inventory of raw materials (e.g., vinyl rolls, substrates) and finished products, updating records in ERP software (Odoo).
  • Shipping Coordination: Prepare shipping documents (e.g., packing slips, bills of lading, customs forms for international orders) and schedule pickups with carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, or LTL freight services).
  • Quality Control: Inspect outgoing banners and signage for print quality, structural integrity, and accuracy against manufacturing orders before shipping.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or cutting tools for packaging preparation; will handle large-format items requiring specialized equipment.
  • Customer Coordination: Work with sales and production teams to prioritize rush orders or resolve shipping issues for time-sensitive projects (e.g., trade shows, events).
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory movements, and delivery confirmations using Odoo.
  • Workplace Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, including use of PPE and maintaining a clean, organized shipping area to prevent damage to delicate products.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED; training in logistics, warehousing, or graphic production is a plus.

Experience: 0-2 years in shipping, warehousing, or manufacturing; experience with large-format printing or signage production is preferred but not required.

  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate orders and prevent damage to delicate or custom products.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, handle oversized items (e.g., rolled banners or rigid signs), and stand for extended periods.
  • Organizational skills to manage high-volume or time-sensitive orders.
  • Communication skills to coordinate with production, sales, and carriers.
  • Work Environment: Manufacturing warehouse or print shop with potential exposure to inks or noise. May involve climate-controlled areas to protect materials.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, typically 40 hours/week, with potential for overtime during peak seasons (e.g., trade show seasons or large client orders). May include evening or weekend shifts depending on production demands.
