## About This Role At Costco Wholesale Corporation, we're looking for a **Meat Wrapper / Sanitation** associate to join our Chicago warehouse team. You'll be responsible for wrapping and labeling meat products using a wrapping machine, stocking display cases, and operating equipment like the meat grinder, Ross tenderizer, moisture fat tester, and manual pallet jack. Along the way, you'll provide a high level of member service. ### The Day-to-Day Your day often begins by inspecting and reassembling equipment that was sanitized the previous night, then reworking the display case and rotating product. You'll re-stock meat room supplies and boxes of meat up to 70 lbs., and stock meat display cases while following department production procedures and standards for quality and consistency. Once that's underway, you'll take large trays of styrofoam-packaged meat from wheeled racks and place individual packages into the automatic wrapping machines. You'll set the label machine according to product type and price, print and apply labels, and move the finished packages to the display case—either by reaching through sliding windows or rolling the cart to the floor. This part of the job also means handling boxes of meat up to 99 lbs. Operating the machinery is a core part of the role. You'll run the meat grinder, dumping meat into the top and checking the fat content of each batch, and you'll operate the tenderizing machine. All of this is done with attention to proper department production procedures. ### Keeping Things Clean and Safe Cleaning and sanitizing are central to this position. Throughout the day, you'll clean the area including windows, comply with health code and sanitation standards, and maintain proper temperatures. At the end of the day, you'll clean and sanitize the meat room, disassemble equipment, and power wash the room. You'll also wash, apply cleaning agents, wipe, and mop all surfaces and equipment, empty the drain screen, and operate the commercial dishwasher, power sink, or wash by hand in three-compartment sinks. You'll also perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment, ensure proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials, and assist with department duties or other warehouse departments as needed. The ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery is important. ### Availability and Requirements Apart from any religious or disability considerations, open availability is needed to meet the needs of the business.
