Estimator / Customer service

We're looking for an Estimator with a strong customer service focus to join our collaborative sales team in Braintree.

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working with customers, has a good eye for detail and likes solving problems. You'll deal with enquiries, prepare quotations, work with technical drawings and help customers through the order process.

You'll work closely with customers and colleagues across the business, building relationships and helping turn enquiries into orders.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing accurate quotations and amending orders using our internal systems.
  • Taking incoming calls and responding to customer enquiries, providing helpful and professional advice.
  • Building relationships with existing and dormant customers and following up quotations to help secure orders.
  • Keeping customers updated on pricing, lead times, deliveries and orders.
  • Reading, cleaning and amending technical drawings in line with our processes.
  • Keeping customer records and audit documentation accurate and up to date.
  • Dealing with delivery and courier queries, raising claims and escalating issues where needed.
  • Managing personal and shared inboxes and prioritising your workload in a busy environment.
  • Supporting internal projects and improvements across the business.
  • Working towards individual and team targets, including quotation activity and conversion rates.
What we're looking for

  • Confident speaking to customers on the phone and by email.
  • A good communicator who works well with different teams.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment and meeting deadlines.
  • A problem-solver who takes ownership and sees tasks through to completion.
  • Proactive and willing to suggest ideas and improvements.
  • Comfortable working with figures, pricing and customer information.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings – full training will be provided.
  • Ideally experienced in an internal sales, estimating, customer service or similar role within a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Able to reliably travel to our site for your contracted hours, as there is no public transport serving our premises.
