Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202.<br><br>The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Occasional weekends or alternative work hours may be required. This is a field-based inspection role: work is performed at the Webb Building and at construction sites throughout the City and County of Denver as business needs require. This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule.<br><br>The selected candidate must provide their own vehicle to perform field inspections. The city shall reimburse employees using personal vehicles to conduct city business in accordance with the mileage rates adopted by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service for the period involved.<br><br>Please note: Downtown parking expenses are the responsibility of the employee. We offer a flexible spending account option specifically for parking; if you elect this option, you can use pre tax dollars for parking. Visit DenverGov.org/CPD.<br><br>Our CPD Team is currently seeking an Electrical Inspector to join our building inspection team. This is a non-supervisory field inspection position responsible for conducting electrical and fire alarm inspections and enforcing the Denver Building Code and applicable amendments, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA standards throughout Denver.<br><br>Specifically, as an Electrical Inspector, you will:<br><br><ul><li>Conduct electrical and fire alarm inspections in all classes and occupancies of buildings.</li><li>Ensure compliance with the Denver Building Code and amendments related to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA Article 72).</li><li>Make recommendations for appropriate corrections, enforcement, and/or necessary compliance action to remedy compliance issues.</li><li>Investigate complaints of code violations and recommend appropriate corrective and/or enforcement action, which may include issuing “stop work” orders, summons, and/or canceling permits, and re-investigating to verify code compliance.</li><li>Interpret and explain rules, regulations, ordinances, and standards to property owners, contractors, and the public.</li><li>Review approved drawings and inspect according to the approved scope of work; report meter release inspections and accept minor corrections (including photos, remote video inspection, and emailed UFER/PV roof letters) as appropriate.</li><li>Prepare written reports and maintain records of inspections performed, and comply with standard safety rules and procedures common to the trade.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>What You’ll Bring<br><br></strong>We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. You'll be right at home here if you cultivate strong relationships and push yourself, your work, the people around you and Denver to the next level.<br><br>Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:<br><br><ul><li>Extensive knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and the Denver Building Code, with the ability to inspect electrical and fire alarm work across various occupancies.</li><li>Familiarity with the Accela Permit Tracking System (Desktop and Mobile) and document management software; proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint is preferred.</li><li>Strong technical judgment with the ability to consistently interpret and apply codes and regulations.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, including clear communication of failed results with code article references.</li><li>Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision while maintaining consistency and reliability.</li><li>Efficiently demonstrates excellent time/work management skills; works well under pressure and able to multitask.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and highly organized.</li><li>Ability to work as part of a team to support both internal and external customers.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>Education requirements: Graduate from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.</li><li>Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience as a journey level electrician.</li><li>Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.</li><li>License/Certifications:</li><ul><li>This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.</li><li>Requires a valid Journey Electrician's License issued by the State of Colorado or state issued equivalent at the time of application.
